Hiab hire and haulage in Newton Abbot

Newton Abbot grew up around the railway and kept the industrial character after the trains stopped being the point. It now has some of the largest trade estates in south Devon and sits at the junction of the roads to Torbay, Exeter and the moor.

It is a genuinely easy town to work in, which is not something we can say about many places in this part of the world.

Access

Well connected, and the estates are properly laid out

The A380 runs past towards Torbay and the A38 is a short hop away, so the approach from any direction is quick.

The industrial estates around the town and out at Heathfield are modern, wide and built for lorries — among the most straightforward access on our whole patch.

The town centre is the usual market-town mix of narrow older streets, and there are low bridges around the railway to be aware of, but none of it is difficult with a bit of planning.

The work

Industrial, construction and estuary work

This is trade territory. Machinery, fabricated steel, plant and containers move constantly between the estates, and a lot of what we do here is business to business.

The Teign estuary side brings some marine and quayside work, and there is steady construction across the town and up towards Kingsteignton.

  • Machinery and plant moved between units and estates
  • Fabricated steel from local engineering firms
  • Containers into yards and storage compounds
  • Materials into construction sites around Kingsteignton
  • Collections routed on towards Exeter or Plymouth

The lorry

What turns up in Newton Abbot

One vehicle: a 30TM HMF hiab with 10 metres of reach on a cheesewedge body, carrying up to 10 tons. It brings the load and lifts it into place, so there is no second machine to arrange and nobody waiting about at either end.

Questions

Common questions about Newton Abbot

Do you work the industrial estates here?
Regularly, and they are among the easiest sites we go to. Wide access and proper hardstanding means we can usually turn a collection round quickly.
Can you combine Newton Abbot with Torbay?
Yes, they are close enough that doing both in one trip usually makes sense and usually costs less than two separate visits.
